CM/ECF UPDATES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 11, 2011 -- NEW PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS

November 4, 2011

CM/ECF Version 4.2 will require all Users to create a new password.

The first time that you log into CM/ECF after the update to Version 4.2 is complete (i.e., on November 14, 2011,) you will be presented with the following notice:

"The requirements for CM/ECF passwords have changed". To set a password that meets the new standards, please click here."

All users must click the "here" link and follow the instructions to change your password. CM/ECF Version 4.2 requires all passwords to have at least eight (8) characters, both uppercase and lowercase letters, and at least one digit or special character (e.g., @,%,&). This requirement helps keep your account protected and enhances the security of CM/ECF.

Please note that if you log into the system with an incorrect password more than five (5) times, your account will now be automatically locked out for five (5) minutes. If you continue to try and log in while your account is locked out, time will be added on to the lockout period for every additional failed login attempt. If you have forgotten your password, you may follow the procedure for resetting it by clicking the "Forgot your password?" Link on the CM/ECF login page.

Please also note that these password requirements apply to the CM/ECF database. Password requirements for PACER and/or third-party vendors are not a part of this update. You are encouraged to contact these entities prior to November 11 to advise them of the upgrade to Version 4.2.
