CM/ECF UPDATES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 11, 2011 - BNC NOTICE OF MEETING OF CREDITORS TO DEBTOR'S ATTORNEY WILL BE SENT ELECTRONICALLY AND NOT IN PAPER

November 8, 2011

Currently, debtors' attorneys receive a copy of the 341 Meeting of Creditors Notice ("341 Notice") both by way of an email attachment with the debtors' redacted Social Security Number (SSN), and in paper form by way of the U.S. Mail through the BNC with the debtor's full SSN. The improvement provided with CM/ECF Release 4.2 will allow the BNC to send to debtors' counsel an email containing a secure hyperlink to the unredacted 341 notice in place of a paper notice. The BNC will send one summary email per day containing hyperlinks to one or more notices. Each hyperlink will provide one free look to the full notice. Mailing of the redundant paper notice will be discontinued, as a national cost containment initiative and to eliminate the burden on attorneys in handling redundant paper notices.

A sample BNC email notification is provided at the following web page: http://ebn.uscourts.gov/documents/Attorney341Email.pdf

The secured hyperlink will be the only notification sent to debtors' attorneys which contains the full SSN. It is therefore imperative that you ensure your email accounts are properly maintained. Any emails which cannot be sent to your account for any reason -- e.g. mailbox is full or email address is no longer valid -- will not be forwarded. To change your email address for your CM/ECF account, you must use the Court's mandatory Request for Change of Contact Information Form, which can be found on the Court's website, or on the log-in page of CM/ECF.

Please note that the secured hyperlink WILL BE SENT ONLY TO THE ATTORNEY'S PRIMARY EMAIL ADDRESS. An email containing only the redacted version of the 341 notice will be sent to any secondary address.
