Already an E-Filer

As of June 24, 2019, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of New York is using NextGen CM/ECF. Logging into CM/ECF has changed. Electronic Filers must upgrade existing PACER accounts and use the upgraded accounts to log into NextGen CM/ECF.

Each filer must have an individual, upgraded PACER account. A firmwide or shared account may still be used to perform case research in PACER, but cannot be used to file electronically in NextGen CM/ECF. A filer who has been using a shared PACER account to file in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of New York must create a new, upgraded PACER account.

Note: An attorney who created a PACER account on or after August 11, 2014 already has an upgraded PACER account which is compatible with NextGen CM/ECF.

Step 1

Get your own PACER account   - - OR - -   Upgrade your current PACER account

Get your own PACER account.

You must have your own PACER account, which will be linked to your CM/ECF filing account. CM/ECF users will not be able to use shared PACER accounts.

Upgrade your current PACER account.

If you have your own individual PACER account that was created prior to August 11, 2014 (also known as a legacy account), you must upgrade your account before you can electronically file in a NextGen CM/ECF court.

If you do not have your own individual PACER account (i.e., if you share a PACER account with others in your firm), refer to the instructions above to get your own PACER account.

If you already have an upgraded PACER account, go to Step 2.

Step 2

Link your CM/ECF account to your PACER account

If you were an e-filer before our conversion to NextGen CM/ECF on June 24, 2019, you MUST link your CM/ECF Account to your upgraded PACER Account.  A new registration will be rejected.  You will need your upgraded PACER user name and password, along with your CM/ECF user name and password for this process. This must be done only once.

After performing Step 2, your CM/ECF user name and password are no longer valid. You must now use your upgraded PACER account to log-in to CM/ECF in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of New York.
